This image I tried to emulate it as much as I could. I think I should of shot this image outside maybe so I can show the depth of field a bit more. I think what makes the picture work well is the vantage point of where I took the photo. I stayed eye level with Katie in order to try and match Rehan's composition. I think that if the scarf was black the image would probably stand out so that we are drawn to Katie's blue eyes. I really like the composition of this though.
This artist/photographer has used quite a low f.stop which has created the narrow background. I really like the framing of this image because the cropping of the image helps us to engage with the main subject which is the person's eyes. The black kinda of frames the subject matter and lets us engage and focus on the one thing. There is nothing that distracts the image in the back. I really like the composition this photographer has used and where they have place the woman's face. The black around the woman's face works really well. The vantage point works really well as well it's almost like eye level with the photographer.

I really like the cropping of the image very close almost like we are in the personal space of the woman. The use of black and white suits the image creates quite a powerful image especially the composition of where the hand sits and with the woman's eye as well. This image would have used a high f stop because we can see every little detail on the woman's face which I think looks really good.

Unfortunately I told jackie to put her her hand on the wrong side as the picture. This is what I need to fix on this image. I took this image at eye level vantage point with Jackie standing in front of me. Unfortunately we put the wrong hand on the wrong eye. I can see that a lot of my images are quite soft especially this one and others this was probably the one most sharpest out of the few that I took. I would most probably need to change my shutter speed if I want a sharper image probably 1/60 or 1/100 would be good for a shutter speed.

I really like the colour in this image. The colour flows really well through out the whole image and I think also the black that surrounds the image helps focus on the man in the picture. The composition of how the man is well done. The photographer has thought about what they wanted to focus on in this image. The light in the background also works really well with the black that shapes around the man.

I actually don't really like the way I have set up this image. I think what would be better if I positioned Carol in a darker background. The white background doesn't look well in this image. I also think that the image isn't sharp its quite soft around Carols face and is more focussed on Carols hand. I think I might need to have cropped Carol closer to get a good composition.

What I really like about this image is the brown/orange scarf that surrounds the girls face. the colour of the background that kind of matches with her eyes. The photographer thought about colour and the contrast between the two which really works well. I think also the position of the girl and how her eyes are the centre of her image which stand out to me.

I noticed that a lot of these images were blurry when I look closely at the image. I realised that my shutter speed was way to slow I should of had it over 60. The image would have look a lot more stable and clear. I like the composition of how carol is set up. My vantage point was at eye level where I sat right in front of carol.
This is a church in America Samoa that I took with the man made structure up against the sky. They had such amazing churches. I really like the idea of putting the church building up towards the sky.
I used quite a fast shutter speed for this picture and a low f stop number so I can let the light in through the lens. I really don't like the way the wires cross in front of the church. I thought that the colours worked really well with the building and up against the sky. I was on a low angle as well when I took this image where I was looking up towards the sky. I really thought the cropping as well worked well there isn't anything on the sides distracting. We can just focus on the church building itself.

ReplyDeleteGreat photos Kendra! Can you comment on the compositional techniques you are emulating such as placement of the subject in the frame, vantage point, direction of subjects gaze etc? Also, did you take two portraits using a wide DOF?
