Colour Correction - Week 5

COLOUR CORRECTION

One of my images I took at the park one day with my family. The image on the left was very dark and quite dull colours. I moved the temperature towards the right to give it a lot more colour than what it had.  The use of editing and adding more temperature made the image look a lot better. I didn't add anything else to the image. I didn't want it too look too bright but wanted it too look quite natural.

Temperature: 5550

OVER EXPOSED

I noticed that the light outside was a lot bright and the tool help me bring back the detail in the sky which I think worked well. I put some vibrance to the image and colour because the image looked really dull in the beginning.

UNDER EXPOSED IMAGE

This image was way to dark to begin with but I really like the use of the editing in bridge. I realised that at the time I was shooting the light wasn't working and I exposed my image a lot more to see the detail in the image. Exposing the image made it look better we can now we the detail.

Week 2 Monday - Francesca Woodman

Francesca Woodman

Francesca Stern Woodman was born April 3, 1958 - January 19, 1981 (died) she was an American photographer and was mainly known for her black and white images which had featured females and either herself. Woodman used a lot of long exposure times in her her work, the use of blur and obscured faces. Years later Francesca Woodman killed herself at the age of 22.

The vantage point for this image would of been taken at eye level. Francesca Woodman has positioned her subject towards the right of the image and not in the centre. The camera orientation for this image would most probably and landscape shot but this image has been cropped. We are focused mainly on the woman who is in the dress.

Francesca has created this space with the wall and the woman. It's almost like it's intentional because we look at this empty wall which leads toward the woman. I really like the composition of this image and how she has used the space. I like the way the woman is positioned as well. The way her arm extends towards the top along with her hair.

This image would have had a mid vantage point at eye level.  I really like the space also in this image because we are able to just focus on the girl spinning.

The movement of the subject would be the female spinning on the spot. So for Francesca to create the blur would of had a long exposure time. The subject is in the centre of the image.

- I really like the effect that the motion blur works with movement
- I think it would look cool it I went to another area to take the images
- The lighting in the room is a bit dark

RICHARD AVEDON

May 15, 1923- October 1, 2004) an American fashion and portrait photographer. Richard Avedon was born in New York to a Jewish family. Richard Avedon's father was a Russian-bown immigrant who had started his own retail dress business. Mother Anna was from a family that owned a dress manufacturing business. This had influenced his love for fashion and Art. Avedon's interest in photography has emerged when he was 12.

This was my attempt at emulating one of Richard Avedon's image. I think what didn't work well was most probably the lighting set up. In the picture I took I used natural lighting outside next to the black board.

I tried to get as close as possible with the same angle and space. I think that I should have taken the picture a bit closer to the subject to get the same amount of space that is used in the image. I noticed the vantage point is at eye-level. In this image I took the picture at 1/80. I think next time I would try maybe more indoor lighting.

Week 1 Thursday

Rehahn
This artist/photographer has used quite a low f.stop which has created the narrow background. I really like the framing of this image because the cropping of the image helps us to engage with the main subject which is the person's eyes. The black kinda of frames the subject matter and lets us engage and focus on the one thing. There is nothing that distracts the image in the back. I really like the composition this photographer has used and where they have place the woman's face. The black around the woman's face works really well. The vantage point works really well as well it's almost like eye level with the photographer.

This image I tried to emulate it as much as I could. I think I should of shot this image outside maybe so I can show the depth of field a bit more. I think what makes the picture work well is the vantage point of where I took the photo. I stayed eye level with Katie in order to try and match Rehan's composition. I think that if the scarf was black the image would probably stand out so that we are drawn to Katie's blue eyes. I really like the composition of this though.

Manny Librodo

I really like the cropping of the image very close almost like we are in the personal space of the woman. The use of black and white suits the image creates quite a powerful image especially the composition of where the hand sits and with the woman's eye as well.  This image would have used a high f stop because we can see every little detail on the woman's face which I think looks really good.

Unfortunately I told jackie to put her her hand on the wrong side as the picture. This is what I need to fix on this image. I took this image at eye level vantage point with Jackie standing in front of me. Unfortunately we put the wrong hand on the wrong eye. I can see that a lot of my images are quite soft especially this one and others this was probably the one most sharpest out of the few that I took. I would most probably need to change my shutter speed if I want a sharper image probably 1/60 or 1/100 would be good for a shutter speed.

Joel Santos
I really like the colour in this image. The colour flows really well through out the whole image and I think also the black that surrounds the image helps focus on the man in the picture. The composition of how the man is well done. The photographer has thought about what they wanted to focus on in this image. The light in the background also works really well with the black that shapes around the man.

I actually don't really like the way I have set up this image. I think what would be better if I positioned Carol in a darker background. The white background doesn't look well in this image. I also think that the image isn't sharp its quite soft around Carols face and is more focussed on Carols hand. I think I might need to have cropped Carol closer to get a good composition.

Steve McCurry

What I really like about this image is the brown/orange scarf that surrounds the girls face. the colour of the background that kind of matches with her eyes. The photographer thought about colour and the contrast between the two which really works well. I think also the position of the girl and how her eyes are the centre of her image which stand out to me.

ISO: 400
TV: 1/10
FSTOP: 4.5

I noticed that a lot of these images were blurry when I look closely at the image. I realised that my shutter speed was way to slow I should of had it over 60. The image would have look a lot more stable and clear. I like the composition of how carol is set up. My vantage point was at eye level where I sat right in front of carol.

Man Made framing the subject with the sky

This is a church in America Samoa that I took with the man made structure up against the sky. They had such amazing churches. I really like the idea of putting the church building up towards the sky.

I used quite a fast shutter speed for this picture  and a low f stop number so I can let the light in through the lens. I really don't like the way the wires cross in front of the church. I thought that the colours worked really well with the building and up against the sky. I was on a low angle as well when I took this image where I was looking up towards the sky.  I really thought the cropping as well worked well there isn't anything on the sides distracting. We can just focus on the church building itself.

Week 1 Monday

Vaness Wu Emulate

 ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/125
F stop: 14.0

- My image has a high f stop there for my image allows less light in for the image
- I have taken my image landscape. Suppose to be portrait
- I can also see that the image is a bit uneven

- I see that in the image that Vanessa Wu has created has a lot more light than I have
- There is a lot more balance in Vanessa's image and space is used really well in her work
- We have also use different lighting and different subject matters as well
